Production Manager - Afternoon Shift
Walshs Glass is proud to be the leader in glass processing, servicing the WA building and construction industry for over 50 years. As an independent family-owned business, our experience and scale underpin our reputation as the experts in glass.
Focused on delivering customer excellence every day, we produce and deliver high-quality glass products combined with flexible and reliable service. We pride ourselves on maintaining strong, lasting relationships with our customers - from small independent glazing businesses to Tier 1 commercial builders.
About the role
We are currently seeking an experienced Production Manager to join our team in Canning Vale on our afternoon shift. Looking after a team of up to 15 operators and material handlers with a focus on meeting our customers’ requirements on time and to the highest quality. We are looking for someone with demonstrated experience and success in manufacturing, safety and leadership.
This is a full-time position, with the afternoon shift hours of:
- Monday to Thursday, 2:25pm – 11:10pm
- Friday, 12pm – 5pm
We work in a blue
collar, family-owned business and we all chip in when help is needed, so this
job would be suited to someone with a hands-on approach to achieving targets
and outcomes. As a finishing trade, we work on short lead times and do not tend
to make the same thing twice, requiring a flexible mind to prioritise, resolve
and respond to changing requirements.
As systems are critical here, a methodical mind is needed to create and maintain best-practice processes along with an ability to think on your feet and deal calmly with machinery, quality and customer challenges.
What you will do
Reporting to the Executive Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the overall safe, efficient and functional operations of our factory and production employees. Your day-to-day role will include:
- Oversee and coordinate all production operations to meet output and quality goals
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of skilled operators and supervisors
- Plan and schedule resources to maximise efficiency and minimise downtime
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives across processes and performance
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards, championing and modelling a safety-first culture
- Collaborating and coordinating across shifts to meet output and organisational requirements.
What you will have
- Strong mechanical or technical understanding – ideally with experience in a manufacturing or construction industry
- Excellent communicator who leads by example and builds strong team culture
- Experience in leadership positions, with the ability to manage multiple, competing demands
- Experience building or maintaining processes and ongoing continuous improvement
- Experience championing safety within a manufacturing environment
Our employee benefits
- Competitive pay
- Wellness and lifestyle package of $275 available annually
- Discounted health insurance, gym membership and auto services
- Salary Sacrifice options on IT and portable devices
- Weekly fruit supply in lunch rooms
- Social events throughout the year
- Employee Assistance Program
- Free parking
Please note only applications with the right to live and work in Australia will be considered for this position.
