Maintenance Technician

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Executive Operations Manager, this role works closely with the Production Managers across all shifts to ensure the effective running of all machinery. A true all-round maintenance position working on mechanical repairs and PLC work across a large variety of equipment from CNC to glass processing and toughening machines, no two days are the same.
This role is also responsible for ensuring the completion of key preventative maintenance during the annual Christmas shutdown, when all operations stops.
Other responsibilities include;
- Assess machine breakdowns and determine the most suitable course of action to remedy
- Effectively carry out repairs up to and including your qualifications, skills and experience, working to an ‘internal’ before ‘contractor’ approach to the work
- Plan, coordinate and complete scheduled preventative maintenance on time and to budget, ensuring effective management of machine downtime.
- Coordinate and assist external contractors and technicians as required, maintaining good working relationships with suppliers and external providers
- Maintain good governance and administration within the maintenance team
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to prioritise workload and coordinate maintenance issues
- Manage, source and order critical spare parts, always ensuring adequate stock levels on site
- Respond to emergency, after hours breakdowns when required, providing phone or on-site support depending on level of severity
The person
A true team-player is needed for this role, as it plays an integral part in our Operations and for our business.
A flexible approach to hours is critical as we are a 24-hour operation. Maintaining core hours of Monday to Friday 6am-2:30pm, there may be meeting or training from time to time that fall outside these hours. While not frequent, availability after hours to resolve a breakdown via phone is important for our teams. Call out and overtime rates apply for time worked on-site to attend to breakdowns. Other attributes and experience include:
- Effective time management and ability to meet deadlines
- Flexible attitude towards work and ability to adapt to changing priorities
- Positive approach to work with a team player mindset
- Builds positive and collaborative relationships with contractors, employees and managers.
- Formal training or experience in hydraulics and pneumatics; reading diagrams, interpreting gauge readings and replacing componentry
- Experience in pneumatic systems, automated equipment, PLCs/pumps
- Restricted electrical licence/s desirable
