The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for a candidate to learn the craft of glass processing, leading into a number of development pathways and ongoing career opportunities.

You will gain hands-on experience in this physical role operating the latest and most advanced machinery in glass processing. You will learn through our senior operators and leaders in the factory, from precision cutting and laminating to CNC operation, Insulated Glass Unit (IGU) manufacturing and glass toughening. This is your chance to master every step of the production process and build a high-demand trade career with cutting-edge technology at your fingertips.

Some of the training and career pathways available, depending on your career goals, both during and after your training include:

  • Become trade qualified, completing an apprenticeship and achieving a Certificate III in Glass and Glazing
  • Become a machine specialist within the factory
  • Advance into a range of leadership positions
  • Make a change and utilise your skills in other departments of the business

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will grow as you learn more skills and gain experience through the factory. To start you will be responsible to:

  • Learn and apply trade-specific skills through supervised on-the-job training
  • Observe and assist skilled professionals to gain practical knowledge
  • Support production or service activities by performing basic tasks
  • Follow safety procedures and company policies at all times

The Person

At Walshs we work within a team environment, working together safely to ensure the product is delivered on time at the quality standard for the customer. To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Successfully completed year 12, or equivalent, schooling
  • A mature approach and strong commitment to work
  • Reliable and flexible– as we have a team that rely on each other to achieve the work
  • A willingness to learn and take direction from senior team members
  • A practical, hands-on approach to work
  • The ability to follow set procedures and routines

You will be working in an environment where safety comes first. Glass is fragile and we ensure all our employees are well trained in all aspects of glass handling. You therefore must have:

  • The ability to lift 25kgs and move glass safely
  • A quality and safety mindset
