The Opportunity

You will work closely with the Financial Controller and senior management, gaining hands-on commercial insight and visibility across operations. This role offers broad hands-on experience across core accounting and payroll functions, providing strong end-to-end finance experience in a thriving business. The position supports professional development and career progression for someone working towards CA/CPA. The role suits a proactive finance professional who wants responsibility, autonomy, and real impact from day one.

The Role

This position involves a broad range of responsibilities, including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Provide comprehensive accounting support to the Financial Controller, including financial reporting, journals, month-end processing, cash flow forecasting, and fixed asset management
  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with payroll tax, superannuation, and relevant legislation
  • Process invoices, trade finance transactions, and payment cycles, ensuring all activities follow approved processes and deadlines
  • Maintain and update financial registers, including assets, capital expenditure, and project-related records
  • Conduct stock and inventory reviews, including stocktake reconciliations and monthly stock revaluations
  • Prepare and submit statutory compliance requirements such as BAS and ATO reporting
  • Identify and implement system and process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and financial controls

The Person

The successful candidate should possess the following skills, qualifications and attributes:

Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance, ideally also progressing towards to pursue CA or CPA accreditation
  • 2–3 years’ experience in accounting and payroll processing
  • Experience in working with different awards and enterprise agreements
  • Strong knowledge of Australian payroll, superannuation, and financial compliance requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems (Business Central or ELMO desirable)
